Training Submersible Pilots

Recently a team of U-Boat Worx pilot instructors went onboard the Crystal Esprit cruise ship to train a new team of pilots. For the first part of the submarine pilot training, each new pilot needs to learn all systems, protocols, regulations, and dive physics, then accurately complete a theoretical examination.

Next, to put their newly learned knowledge to the test, we use virtual reality to simulate dives. While one of the students is undergoing all the requisite training protocols, the others are able to review his actions on a big screen. An advantage of this tool is that the students are able to test what they have learned in a safe environment. Also, this will make the first dives for part two of the training – the actual piloting of the sub in an underwater environment – much easier.
